†HAMLET†

SHAKESPEARE

†Ophelia†
There is a willow grows
ascaunt the brook,
That shows his hoar
leaves in the glassy stream.

Therewith fantastic garlands
did she make
Of crow-flowers, nettles,
daisies, and long purples,
That liberal shepherds give
a grosser name,
But our cold maids
do dead men's fingers call them.

There on the pendant
boughs her crownet weeds
Clamb'ring to hang,
an envious sliver broke,
When down her weedy
trophies and herself
Fell in the weeping brook.

Her clothes spread wide,
And mermaid-like
a while they bore her up;
Which time she chanted
snatches of old lauds,
As one incapable
of her own distress,
Or like a creature native
and indued unto that element.

But long it could not be
Till that her garments,
heavy with their drink,
Pulled the poor wretch
from her melodious lay
To muddy death.

It's A Wonderful Life
05.27.05 (4:53 am)
Two school board members have boycotted the high school graduation here in town because it is being held in a den of sin otherwise known as the Rodeo Grounds at the Bingo Palace.  Okay, that's not it's official title - but that's what people call it round these parts.  As most of you know Jesus never played the bingo so he obviously disapproves of the pastime.  He never played the blackjack or the penny slots either.  He did however play it pretty loose and fast with some money changers at a church once and then there was that whole, water into wine thing.  I wonder how that would go over with these two crusaders for piety and family values?

Forget for a moment that "the Bingo" employs half the county, forget it brings in tourists and potentially eases the tightening of the state's meagre budget, by baby Jesus, Granny the Cable Guy is out there spending her pension down the highway to hell.  So what if it's the only entertainment for miles?  Big fracking deal if it's the only human interaction she has in her small town life, St. Peter hates Pull Tab TARTS!!!!

Not wanting to slight our young graduates, the gentleman protestors are sending each and every student a copy of the timeless Christmas classic, It's A Wonderful Life," in hopes of showing these jaded youths a time when our country was more in step with the Lord.  The McCarthy Era.

On filibustering
05.24.05 (6:31 pm)
The majority doesn't want the minority to filibuster, going as far as to threaten to do away with the process all together.  Me, &nbs p;I would put money on the idea that moderates on both sides of the political game are against flushing filibusters.

Why all the hubbub bub?  Judge nominees.  .and not the ones being put up now.  No way.  Politicos are looking a bit farther down the road.

We have an aging Supreme Court folks.

I heard Pat Buchanan bemoaning this fact on Imus in the morning today.   He also feels that our current  Suprem e Court Judges were hijacking the Political system of this country from the people to press their own ideologies. ...and where was he in '02, or rather, November of '01?  Were they a hotbed of left wing extremism forcing their views on the country then?

Please Pat, this tired old flip-flopping rhetoric is ready to be put out to pasture.

The very thing that makes our system work are the checks and balances such as these justices.

Grrrr...

Virgo
August 23 - September 21

When the day is spent, you'll look back on it as a most unusual one, dear Virgo. Wild ideas sprouted in your head like mushrooms on a fertile marsh. You may have imagined leaving immediately for a trip around the world, or drawn up preliminary plans for an innovative housekeeping invention, or visualized an entirely new career in the virtual-reality business. Don't dismiss these ideas as totally unrealistic. They are not...

And why should today differ from any other?

You May Be a Bit Histrionic ...

Dramatic and over the top, you crave attention. And you'll do anything it takes to get noticed. You love to be seductive, even when it's inappropriate. If you're ignored, you're easily hurt ... and act out even more!
