†HAMLET†
†
SHAKESPEARE
†
†Ophelia†
There is a willow grows
ascaunt the brook,
That shows his hoar
leaves in the glassy stream.
Therewith fantastic garlands
did she make
Of crow-flowers, nettles,
daisies, and long purples,
That liberal shepherds give
a grosser name,
But our cold maids
do dead men's fingers call them.
There on the pendant
boughs her crownet weeds
Clamb'ring to hang,
an envious sliver broke,
When down her weedy
trophies and herself
Fell in the weeping brook.
Her clothes spread wide,
And mermaid-like
a while they bore her up;
Which time she chanted
snatches of old lauds,
As one incapable
of her own distress,
Or like a creature native
and indued unto that element.
But long it could not be
Till that her garments,
heavy with their drink,
Pulled the poor wretch
from her melodious lay
To muddy death.

The death is unfathomable. The response, the humanity, lifts the heart.

| Nothing To Say |
| 12.30.04 (7:32 pm) |

Maybe it's my new medication but I've not got much to say. It's not like I've stopped thinking, or caring, I've just stopped obsessing. Obsessing/focusing - different things. Sometimes, when you obsess though, it's like you see so many sides of things, it makes it easier to put the words down...
I am not so sure it was correct to contrast obsessing to focusing - before the cymbalta my mind would race - race over whatever it was I was obsessing about, my health, my woes etc. Now, things have just slowed down - it's not so frantic, so tragic...
Again, I am at a loss for words.

| Um, okay, I think, sorta, did this happen? |

Yeah, I just had a relative sort of, in an innoucous and ambiguous sort of way, come, or maybe just peek ,out of the closet... (I think...)
It was a very strange conversation.

| Carpet Cleaning |
| 12.21.04 (5:14 pm) |
|
I am having my carpet cleaned for Christmas. Santa's elves are busy as I type. One of Santa's Elves has multiple piercings...
None of the big nasty stains are coming out btw. Still, the carpet will at least be clean for the hand me down furniture I am getting! Hello - 6 months without a couch and finally, in the foreseeable future a couch and a love seat, slightly used - will be delivered to my door. Hallelujah, salvation is mine.
Now, instead of lying on my bed watching television, I can lie on my couch and watch television...

| 10 things I learned this year. |
| 12.17.04 (3:35 pm) |
|
1. Tell your friends you love them. You may wake up one day to find them beyond your reach.
2. Forgive those who won't forgive you. You'll sleep better at night.
3. Save your money for a rainy day.
4. Get a pet.
5. Take up a traditional hobby like making quilts or woodworking. They're dying arts.
6. Call your grandparents.
7. Trust your instincts.
8. Don't be a music snob.
9. Read or reread at least one children's book every year. More if possible.
10. Frequently update your blog lest you be dropped from someone's favorite's list.

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, "My son, the battle is between two wolves."
One is Evil. It is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority and ego."
The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, "Which wolf wins?"
The old Cheroke simply replied, "The one you feed."
My friend known as lyric fairy share that. I thinks it is very wise,

The Twelve Gifts I Wish for You
Happiness. Deep down within. Serenity. With each sunrise. Success. In each facet of your life. Family. Beside you. Health. Inside you. Love. That never ends. Special memories. Of all the yesterdays. A bright today. With much to be thankful for. A path. That leads to beautiful tomorrows. Dreams. That do their best to come true. Appreciation. Of all the wonderful things about you. Close and caring friends. -Collin McCarty-

Why blog?
Why spend my time tinkering around with the look and content of an online diary?
That's what mine is after all - an online diary.
My former therapist was a bit shocked that I wrote things down on-line - private things, dark things...
Why write them if no one is going to read them?
There is something to getting things down on paper - getting them out of your head - that's something she encouraged me to do. Here's the trick - it felt much better when she would scan or actually read the words I wrote.
I guess I'm addicted to having others read my thoughts. It's a comfort no drug can provide. I can actually close my eyes and type, background noise feeding my muse - sometimes it's music, others blather from television, and still others the cacophany of my cats feet as they race through the house. Today it is gypsy violin. Lively, dark, yet with a promise of something more exciting, more vibrant to come....
Perhaps no one will ever read what I write here. I may never get another comment. The knowledge that there is access is enough to feed my dragons, and fuel the fights I have ahead.

...hours and no chocolate.
One hour workout at the gym.
One hour after that, found a hole in the crotch of my gym pants.
Is this a sign? Should I start hitting the chocolate?
