†HAMLET†

SHAKESPEARE

†Ophelia†
There is a willow grows
ascaunt the brook,
That shows his hoar
leaves in the glassy stream.

Therewith fantastic garlands
did she make
Of crow-flowers, nettles,
daisies, and long purples,
That liberal shepherds give
a grosser name,
But our cold maids
do dead men's fingers call them.

There on the pendant
boughs her crownet weeds
Clamb'ring to hang,
an envious sliver broke,
When down her weedy
trophies and herself
Fell in the weeping brook.

Her clothes spread wide,
And mermaid-like
a while they bore her up;
Which time she chanted
snatches of old lauds,
As one incapable
of her own distress,
Or like a creature native
and indued unto that element.

But long it could not be
Till that her garments,
heavy with their drink,
Pulled the poor wretch
from her melodious lay
To muddy death.

Fleeting thoughts
04.30.04 (2:50 pm)
I have been in more peace these last few weeks than I have been in ages. I think the planets may have finally aligned in my favor. At the least, I am a little more in tune with the world and what's going on around me.

It's a weird feeling when your heart and mind find a way to become still after long periods of chaos. A floating feeling of acceptance and awareness. I want to stay here forever.

WORST.CD. WORST. MOVE. EVER.
04.29.04 (10:19 am)
When I was twelve Jon Bon Jovi was to me what the Backstreet Boys/N'Sync whoever are to tweens today.

I loved his pop rock sound - his long hair and his band.

Yesterday BMG sends me this cd, you know BMG - "sorry we didn't get your don't send the monthly pick request." Anyway, it was a Bon Jovi CD, it looked like a greatest hits album, I thought what the hell. I'll keep it. Well kids, if you happen by a cd titled, =http://www.islandrecords.com/...Bon Jovi, This Left Feels Right, first point and laugh and then run, as fast as you can.

They've remade each of the songs to a different beat, tune, style etc. and we are given a mish mash of crap. At least the originals were fun. These pretty much make you want to open up a vein, lyric wise and musically.

Another childhood memory raped.

Thanks Jon, Richie, Tico and whatever the new guys names are.

Tween Martin is gone. To him and all those who've gone before him, I salute you.

I have a couple of things to say.

#1. Elton John and everyone else who thinks Idol is racist is not watching the show.
****1 white woman and one black man have won the competition, I believe Europe's winners were all men, possibly all white.
****Clay Aiken is getting more recognition than Reuben because the little Glitter fairy appeals to little girls.
****Kids are voting for the kids and adults are voting or the older contestants. Big surprise. Kids will vote all night long. Most adults will make their one vote.
****Nah, nah, nah, look who were in the top three last night.

#2. The talent this year cannot touch last years. Earlier in the competition they had some great singers - but they got rid of them. We are pretty much down to LaToya, Fantasia and Diana - at least they stay on key, most of the time.

Tonight's American Idol sucked. Much like Manilow night, they all paled in comparison to Estefan - even my girl Fantasia blew it - BIG TIME! DeGarmo and Latoya were the best of the worst - and I like what Simon said about Teen Martin.

One drama after another.
04.24.04 (8:04 pm)
I awoke to a nightmare. Unbeknownst to me, in the dead of the night, the 1977 fairy came and gave me Farrah Fawcett's hairstyle. Imagine my surprise when I walked into the bathroom, turned on the light and saw tons of feathered red hair. It was enough for me to immediately turn the light off and go back to bed.

What did you do today?

Give me a break. La Toya and Fantasia were not in the bottom three, they were there for dramatic effect. Hudson, who I don't particularly like, didn't deserved to get canned before Teen Martin. I feel sorry for her. Teen Martin too, he looks like a deer caught in the headlights. America really needs to end his misery.

Hello friends!

Well, I finally had someone who knew what they were doing help me with my blog - isn't it DIVINE! There is a link to Soulkarma - the designer's site at the bottom left og my blog. I highly recommend her.

I've got a few things I still wanna tweak but this may take a while. In the meantime, if you feel yourself really missing the old layout, it's now at LRonKitty's blog (my quizblog aka Quizanetics). Link provided in sidebar.

Speaking of links, some have stayed, some have gone and some are floating around in the ether waiting to be reposted. Again, all the original links are blogrolled at LRonKitty.

Over and out!

Senator says US may need compulsory service to boost Iraq force

WASHINGTON (AFP) - A senior Republican lawmaker said that deteriorating security in Iraq (news - web sites) may force the United States to reintroduce the military draft.

"There's not an American ... that doesn't understand what we are engaged in today and what the prospects are for the future," Senator Chuck Hagel told a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing on post-occupation Iraq.

"Why shouldn't we ask all of our citizens to bear some responsibility and pay some price?" Hagel said, arguing that restoring compulsory military service would force "our citizens to understand the intensity and depth of challenges we face."

The Nebraska Republican added that a draft, which was ended in the early 1970s, would spread the burden of military service in Iraq more equitably among various social strata.

"Those who are serving today and dying today are the middle class and lower middle class," he observed.

Environment
04.21.04 (8:40 am)
There was a time when I was not conscious of my environment and how it effected me emotionally. It has become all too clear these days that it is an important factor in both my mental and physical health.

i need a little sunshine, not too much, just enough to make this hazy world a little clearer. I like the air when it is fresh and cool and the water when it is hot and bubbly. My bedclothes need to be silky or fuzzy and I love how the weight of my cat feels on the bottom of my legs in the mornings.

All these things remind me of the many ways pleasure comes to us in the most subtle of ways. It's such a gift. Right now I feel doubly blessed my home environment and my work environment are both pleasing.

I am working in a Historic building in Downtown Houston. There is something about the feel of this place the highrises just don't have. This whole area, is just more inviting than the cold metallic grays of central downtown. There is a general quietness here I enjoy, and the energy level in a small office doesn't blow me away like the larger offices do. I like it here, I hope they don't fill the position for a while and I can stay.

It's 8'45 ish and only now has someone other than me entered the office. For the record, we've not had one phone call.

Bush
04.19.04 (8:36 am)
A'ight, I didn't see the whole interview, but who the hell in the Bush administration thought it would be a good idea to let Bob Woodward spend time and interview the man.

Don't get me wrong, I can't stand Bush, but if I were on staff, I'd lean in a little close and suugest, Uhm, Mr. President, don't you think Al Roker would be a better choice?"

Who tells BOB WOODWARD they don't care what history has to say about them? ...could it be a person who doesn't know what the heck he's gotten himself into and doesn't know how to get out of it?

Asshat.

It just makes every American look and feel that much more stupid!

Even when
04.18.04 (5:18 pm)

Even when you have failed before, there is still every possibility of success. Even when one door is closed, another door will open. Even when the situation appears to be hopeless, there is indeed hope. Even when your options and your resources seem to be exhausted, there is still something more you can do.
Why is this so? Because the past does not equal the future. Because you are endlessly adaptable, resourceful and determined to go where you know you must go, to do what you know you must do. Because in this moment, you can move beyond anything at all that may have previously held you back.

Even when defeat appears certain, victory is well within reach. Even when the night is at its darkest, dawn is already on the way.

Never give up, never give in, even when everything before has been a disappointment or a disaster. Because everything ahead can be just as you decide to make it.

-- Ralph Marston

=http://memri.org/bin/latestne...Bin Laden transcript.

I can't even express how sick and angry I feel reading this.

"As for those who lie to people and say that we hate freedom and kill for the sake of killing - reality proves that we are the speakers of truth and they lie, because the killing of the Russians took place only after their invasion of Afghanistan and Chechnya; the killing of the Europeans took place only after the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan; the killing of the Americans in the Battle of New York took place only after their support for the Jews in Palestine and their invasion of the Arabian Peninsula; their killing in Somalia happened only after Operation Restore Hope. We restored [i.e. repelled] them without hope, by the grace of Allah."

A.I. 4/15/04, misc. Survivor
04.16.04 (9:50 am)
:( JPL is gone. I am torn. My inner tweenager is very upset, but my heart says it is time for him to go - they should put him on MTV as a VeeJay or something.

Did anyone else think *Tween Martin looked freaked out? My boy red knows he is low on the list. What\'s next weeks challenge? Will it be disco? The boy\'s gone.

DeGarmo - I just don\'t understand all the hate - unlike some (Hudson) she can hit all the right notes!

Ah well, I only watched the ending anyway, I spent the rest of my time watching Survivor. I am a huge freak (not as huge as Lex though). I now want Boston Rob to win it all. He\'s playin the game and playin it like a grown up. Good for him. ...and Ruperts baby was soooo cute! OMG! he\'s a lucky guy.

*That\'s what my web buddies at the Oz Unofficial Forum call him. Very appropriate.

The Rules
04.15.04 (11:18 am)

The Rules for Being Human

1. You will receive a body. You may like it or hate it, but it will be yours for the entire period.

2. You will learn lessons. You are enrolled in an informal school called Life. Each day in this school, you will have the opportunity to learn lessons. You may like the lessons or think them irrelevant and stupid.

3. There are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of trial and error. Experimentation. The "failed" experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiment that ultimately "works".

4. A lesson is repeated until learned. A lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it. You can then go on to the next lesson.

5. Learning lessons does not end. There is no part of life that does not contain its lessons. If you are alive, there are lessons to be learned.

6. "There" is no better than "here." When your "there" has become a "here," you will simply obtain another "there" that will again look better than "here."

7. Others are merely mirrors of you. You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects something you either love or hate about yourself.

8. What you make of your life is up to you. You have all the tools and resources you need. What you do with them is up to you. The choice is yours.

9. Your answers lie inside you. The answers to Life's questions lie inside you. All you need to do is look, listen and trust.

10. You will forget all this.

For what it's worth... Here's my list

#1. Fantascia - man oh man, my girl sang last night.
#2. LaToya - and I'm not that big a fan...
#3. Mr. Huff - who didn't deserve the hate on the song and was oddly sexy...
#4. I am gonna get grief for this but JPL - he sounded better than he *ever* has and was a blast to watch. If I were 14 I would be in love.
#5. Jennifer Hudson - I just thought she was so off key. I agree that parts of the song were perfect and the performance was good, just didn't think she nailed the song.
#6. 3 way tie. I think Simon may have something about these three not being mature enough - Diana DeGarmo's voice was flawless - she hit that song. That awful terrible song that I never thought would go off the radio. Red was fun, but I have to tell ya, he's losing his charm. He's my pick to go. ...and that last little girl - she's beautiful and can sing but it was nothing special.

Did anyone else absolutely beg their parents to take them to the T-shirt store in their town and select a way cool iron-on? My parents hated them. I only had two - but the two I had, oh my Lord were they tacky!

1. Daisy Duke on her Jeep - bright yellow tee
2. I aint afraid of no ghosts - white logo, dark purple tee, fringed and beaded with white beads.

Let me tell you, I was rodeo trash princess. There ain't nothing like one of those t-shirts, and a big black waylon Jennings hat with a turkey feather sticking out from it.

Keep in Mind
04.12.04 (8:28 pm)
=http://forums.delphiforums.co...Lady Judith sent this to me...

Along the way

Dream your big, grand, glorious dreams, and follow them with all that you have. Yet take care not to let your dreams get in the way of your living.
For what good is it to reach your dreams if you do not fully live what you have, what is right here and now? This is the moment that you are in, and there is never any reason to postpone the richness of life.

The dreams you have are great objectives toward which you can reach. And the real value of them is in the process of reaching.

Now is when you give true value to your dreams by the way you live and work toward them. And now is when your dreams give value to you, with the inspiration and direction they provide.

That's why it is never too early and never too late to dream. It is never unrealistic and never presumptuous, whatever your dreams may be.

Let your most treasured dreams pull you forward. As you do, remember to experience the richness and value of every moment along the way.

-- Ralph Marston

I don't like it one bit.
04.08.04 (7:02 am)
One of the networks has made a 9/11 movie. It's called Homeland Security, whatever, it makes me ill to think about it. I don't want to see it, we lived through it once isn't that enough? I wonder if that's how the people who survived Pearl Harbour feel about that event?

I was one of those people who had a false sense of security - that no foregn entity would dare invade the mainland US, if for nothing else the shear geography of it all. I remember a time when I laughed at Pearl Harbour jokes, the thought of someone laughing at 9/11 in the same way infuriates me. We live, we learn, and maybe one day I'll be able to forgive myself.

How embarassing would it be to have to sing one of Elton's songs in front of him and suck?

JPL - just let go dude
Red head - liked the new haircut, didn't think he was as bad as they all thought, in fact, compared to last week he was great.
Fantasia - loved it.
London - one of my fav. EJ songs, I cannot give an impartial impression, because no one sings it better than Elton
DeGarmo- she was puny blees her, she did her best
The last chick - very good.
HUFF - ROCKED the show. BEST.
...since I can't even remeber what the other two sang, that should give you an impression of what I thought.

I've been adding and deleting a lot lately, I am trying to keep it down to blogs I read on a consistent basis. If you disappear, you are most likely on my favorites lists, gone but not forgotten - unless you say something political I really, really, find disturbing and then, well, you are dead to me.

Tomorrow is another day, and that day has come...

"I Am What I Am"
Performed by Linda Eder

I am what I am
I am my own special creation
So come take a look
Give me the hook or the ovation
It's my world that I want to have a little pride in
My world, and it's not a place I have to hide in
Life's not worth a damn 'til you can say
"Hey world, I am what I am!"

I am what I am
I don't want praise
I don't want pity
I bang my own drum
Some think it's noise
I think it's pretty
And so what if I love each sparkle and each bangle?
Why not try to see things from a different angle?
Your life is a sham 'til you can shout out loud:
"I am what I am!"

I am what I am
And what I am needs no excuses
I deal my own deck
Sometimes the ace, sometimes the deuces
There's one life and it's no return and no deposit
One life, so it's time to open up your closet!
Life's not worth a damn 'til you shout
"Hey world, I am what I am!"

Mathematical impossibilities.
04.01.04 (7:55 pm)
Today's employment watch. It is nearly mathematically impossible for me to raise my scores high enough to keep the job. It's the nearly bit that gets me. If I come up a quarter point short or what not, where does that leave me? Two more weeks with getting fired looming over my head? Of course if I do make it that means two more weeks of torture for my employers. It's the only thing keeping me going.

Alabama Changes the Value of Pi
By Mark Boslough

The latest issue of the 'American Humanists for Science and Reason' newsletter reports that the Alabama state
legislature has voted to change the value of the mathematical constant pi from 3.14159 (etc.) to the
'Biblical value' of 3.0. Delegate Buford K. Ford (Rep.; 5th
district), sponsor of the 'Keep Math Holy' bill stated that
the new law was his response to the 'continued efforts of
the atheist liberal humanist conspiracy of so-called
scientists to enforce their muddled ideas of uncertainty on the God-fearing boys and girls of Alabama'. Other
supporters of Delegate Ford's bill noted that in the wake of 9/11, the President had set a new model for moral clarity in the United States; several teachers had recently complained that attempting to teach students that some mathematical concepts did not have a set value was undermining the President's message. "It's important that students understand that in the war on terrorism, there is only one correct answer - you are either with us or against us" said Delegate Carol-Lynn Duke (Rep.; 14th district), "teaching them pi the old-fashioned way confuses this message." Delegate Duke also noted that pi does not appear in the Scriptures. A legal challenge to the new law is expected soon.
