†HAMLET†
†
SHAKESPEARE
†
†Ophelia†
There is a willow grows
ascaunt the brook,
That shows his hoar
leaves in the glassy stream.
Therewith fantastic garlands
did she make
Of crow-flowers, nettles,
daisies, and long purples,
That liberal shepherds give
a grosser name,
But our cold maids
do dead men's fingers call them.
There on the pendant
boughs her crownet weeds
Clamb'ring to hang,
an envious sliver broke,
When down her weedy
trophies and herself
Fell in the weeping brook.
Her clothes spread wide,
And mermaid-like
a while they bore her up;
Which time she chanted
snatches of old lauds,
As one incapable
of her own distress,
Or like a creature native
and indued unto that element.
But long it could not be
Till that her garments,
heavy with their drink,
Pulled the poor wretch
from her melodious lay
To muddy death.

I am a domestic goddess. Spent the weekend doing laundry, cleaning, shopping and, well, to be honest, sleeping. It was great.
New casual diningware for the new house, new outfits for the goddess, stocked pantry and more from my shopping adventure.
Ah, this is the life.

Lone Star where are you tonight...
06.27.03 (8:53 am)
I really had a hate on for some people at a forum I frequent yesterday. Why is it that a certain segment of society feels as if they have to bash =http://www.texasmonthly.com/t...Texas and Texans?
I was born in Texas, I live in Texas. I am well educated, traveled, and politically aware. I can tell you the names of =http://pm.gc.ca/Canada's, =http://www.number-10.gov.uk/o...Great Britain's and =http://abcnews.go.com/referen...France's heads of state, find the African continent on a map and know that all Asian people don't "look alike."
Texas is not a barren =http://www.denali.gov/content...wasteland. East Texas and the Hill country are bursting with flora and fauna. You can count =http://www.naturaldevelopment...deer by the hundreds in any given week, =http://www.birding.com/0301tu...wild turkey strut around freely and not everyone =http://www.texasoutdoorsman.c...shoots at them.
Houston, San Antonio, Austin and Dallas are modern cities concerned with cultural understanding and the social welfare of their people. Tiny towns all across the state have their own stakes in musical, artistic and cultural =http://www.tourtexas.com/@roundtexas.htmlfestivals.
In fact there's a special brand of music Texans are proud to call their own - ephemeral, it has no real category, country/rock/pop/, none of it fits. Those of us who listen simply know it's =http://www.texasmusicguide.co..."Texas Music." "Texas Music" almost always tell a =http://www.yimpan.com/Songsit...story. Songwriting and musicianship is as important if not more so than the actual singer and what he or she looks like. You might not even consider their singing =http://www.rtve.es/rne/r3/t1/...in tune. We, =http://www.texasmusicguide.co...the fans, understand the character this lends to the story and song.
I suppose some people are jealous of the pride some Texans hold for their state. Others are just blinded by a stereotype that has faded. Sure, there are mean spirited hateful people - but they are not the norm. People in Manhattan have first hand experience with this. These city dwellers have a bad rap, "they're rude and inconsiderate." I didn't find that to be true there and I am sure they would have a similar experience here.
Oh, and just like a I wouldn't go into a crack house in a run down Northern neighborhood expecting to find someone to discuss the arts and human rights, I suggest people keep that in mind before entering a =http://www.mikestshirts.com/i...roadhouse with Rebel Flags for window dressing whilst driving down I45.
Bye y'all.

Tony, Tony, Tony...
06.26.03 (10:22 am)
I promised more on Tony Curtis earlier.
He was what the, "in crowd," back in the day would have described as, "ring a ding, ding." Handsome and somewhat of a freak as I understand it, he had everything to make it in young Hollywood.
Anyone catch him in Ben Hur? =http://www.everettcollection....(subtext) Rowrrr. Don't think he and Chuck Heston really hung out a lot on that film.
Tony, of course, came to have it all, famous, beautiful wife, two gorgeous children, and a stellar career all his own.
So what in the name of all that is holy and good happened? Why not exit like a Jimmy Stewart or a Maureen O'Hara?
Noooooooooooo, instead he's gone the way of the Elvis's, Roger Moore's and Liza's of this world. Bloated up, painted up and =http://www.nyc-realtor.com/to...(jill).jpgglammed up Don't speak of the hair or female companion companion. I beg you.
(Hey, I think that guy in the photo is one of those freaks who sneaks up on celebrities and has his picture taken? Creepy.)
If you are out there Tony - ditch the wig, the blonde and the effete image. Age gracefully. Accept the inevitable. You have time.
I still believe in you.

I've noticed some people are using their blogs as creative outlets. I might just try that...
Cecily delicately tripped down the long passageway, candle in hand, illuminating the darkness. With grace and determination she managed her way; careful not to step on the hems of her long Victorian garments.
"Devon, oh Devon, where have you gone," she cried.

The Rat Pack.
Remember =http://www.theratpack.org.uk/...them? Of course you do.
When I was a kid we only had 3 television stations and they ran their old movies all the time. Their's and Tony Curtis's - we'll get to him later.
I was in love with =http://cheap-posters.com/imag...Dean Martin. Never have figured out what it was that =http://www.theratpack.org.uk/...Sinatra had going for him that Dean didn't. In fact, of the two, I thought Martin was far more talented and funny.
That being said, if we are talking about talent, well, it's all about =http://www.bigbandsandbigname...Sammybaby. It's all about Sammy. The man could sing and dance and if not tell a joke take them pretty well.
What can you say about =http://www.bigbandsandbigname...Lawford - he had lots of =http://www.wienerworld.com/ma...connections...
I love that era. Grown ups were just that - grown-up. They =http://www.paperboynews.com/i...smoke, drank, held dinner parties and "dressed" for all occasions. Men wore hats, women wore gloves and so did their kids. Even the most mundane suburban household had an air of class that today's don't.
The fairy tale was still alive then - the big bad press hadn't told us about the tooth fairy, Rock Hudson or JFK, and Marilyn.
Whatever happened to illusion? huh? Someone once said we choose to see the world as we see it. If that's so, I want a martini waiting on me when I get =http://www.sterlingstorm.com/...home. I'll drink it before I slip into my =http://www.partygirlvintage.c...little black dress and go the cocktail party the neighbors are throwing. Maybe later we'll go to the club and catch the new act...

It's not even 9am and I already have the Friday night blues.
the big housewarming event is this evening. My brand new, half decorated house will be swarming with folks I don't know, a few of my crazy relatives and small things I've been told are called "children."
I would much rather just wait 'til midnight, go get the Harry Potter book, and read. I am told the small things might be rioting at the bookstore though.

Sandman
06.19.03 (2:42 pm)
Yeah, I know the =http://www.geocities.com/Suns...Graphic Novels (not to mention comics themselves) are older than dirt now, but it's still one of the most gripping series. Ever.
=http://songweaver.com/vertigo...The Endless:
Destiny
Death
Dream
Desire
Despair
Destruction
and let's not forget
little, Delirium, who once was Delight.
I get chills just thinking about this masterpiece. For those who don't know 'The Sandman', it is Gaiman at his best.
We get a peek at the Endless, those who were before any of Earth's god's and pantheon's. In fact without them, the Jesus's, Bast's and Odin's would never be.
A dysfunctional family at best, the Endless summon one another by their avatars, demanding justice for the realms over which they reign. Well, with the exception of =http://julest.com/sandman/des...Destruction who ran off years ago to retreat into an outdoorsy world of, how should I describe it, his own life, I suppose.
=http://julest.com/sandman/des...Destiny is the eldest and he holds all the secrets. Next is the perky, =http://julest.com/sandman/dea...Death, one of the only Endless that seems somewhat at peace with herself. =http://julest.com/sandman/dre...Dream, the third in line. The hero (antihero) of the saga, dark, cold, and very powerful is the Dream Lord and the Realms he guards most mysterious.
Desire and Despair, the twins, are forever bound by their bond. Yet they could not be more different. =http://julest.com/sandman/des...Desire's what Bowie and Grace Jones would be if they morphed into one. It's a male/female thing both unreletingly cruel and kind.
=http://julest.com/sandman/des...Depair's a troll of a little woman, and is not her original self. Literally. The first Despair is shown in flashback as a beautiful lady in sweeping skirts and curling hair. The New Despair looks remarkably like a miniature sumo wrestler with breasts. She's the one reigning over the suicides, cutters, and self - loathing. She doesn't say much, Despair.
Finally, there's =http://julest.com/sandman/del...Delirium who once was Delight. Delight is the youngest of the Endless. In her earliest days she was a golden haired beauty laughing and dancing and merry-making. Something, what , we are not told, happened, and she is now Delirium.
Delirium's with you when your words slur and you see pink elephants. She's the one you're riding with when the high kicks in and the bugs begin to crawl beneath your skin. She's there in the streets asking for a dime.
Hmmmpph. The World of the Sandman and the Dreaming are populated by a host of others of course. Their stories play out for the Endless like a soap opera or old time radio show.
If you get a chance, pick up the one about Cats - and how one little kitten dares to dream. Don't be surprised if you look at the creatures differently... [LINE]
=http://www.smallblue.com/endl...Bit o' fluff[LINE] Who are you? Who who?
You Are: Death of the Endless
You are Death, the second oldest of the Endless, the seven great incarnations. She is, in outward appearance, a goth with wild unkempt hair and slightly punkish clothes. But she is far beyond that mere description. Her function is much like the "Reaper," to collect the souls of mortals as they die.
She is perky, optimistic, and bright, but she also has a serious side, which shows when she is angry or upset. She can become quite frustrated with her brother, when he is being singularly foolish.
People fear her because of what she is, and this can get her down sometimes. But they also love her, without ever truly knowing why.

The Potter series is brilliant. I haven't been this excited about a book since Gaiman's =http://www.neilgaiman.com/American Gods - which everyone should read. Incredible novel.
I am also looking forward to the arrival of my new kitten friday. Beautiful little Persian that everyone has fallen in love with. Every time BF's mother calls, I ask, "is something wrong with the cat?" Inevitably she tells me no, but that everyone that has seen her wants to keep her. Not likely.
I must be on some sort of manic swing because everything is coming up Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows these days. Odd that.

More on temping.
I don't understand why some of these places need me. They already have people who can do the job. In my current situation the receptionist has been trained to do everything I do. The phone doesn't ring, and we both have plenty of time on our hands. She does webbdollz I blog.
Why doesn't the company just promote the receptionist, and hire a couple of college chippies to answer phones for minimum wage?
Hey, I'll take the job, I'll take the money, far be it from me to suggest something that makes sense, right?

I am not really sure how I got here. Working as a temp leaves you many hours to entertain yourself. At my current assignment I've found myself blocked from many of my favorite websites, so I've had to find other forms of looking busy while I'm really not.
They're a bit of perversion these blogs, voyeurs must love them. What is it about placing your thoughts and feelings in public? It's attractive, in an anonymous sort of way. You can be the center of attention without bringing attention to yourself in the waking world. Curious.
That all said, here I am. Exploring the perversion and anonymity of my first blog. Like my nickname, DRAMA, seems to be what I am all about. At one time I thought I shunned drama, but I now know better. I am drawn to it - like a moth to a flame. (Incredibly insightful of me isn't it? Watch for mixed metaphors. I am not, by any means, gifted with words.)
